Waikoloa Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Waikoloa Hotel, you immediately get that comfortable, no-nonsense vibe that makes you feel like you’ve made a smart choice. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t — this three-star property on Changchun Road knows exactly what it does well and delivers on it consistently. The lobby has a clean, modern feel without any pretentious flourishes, and honestly, that’s exactly what I was hoping for after a long day of travel. You can tell right away that this place focuses on the fundamentals rather than flashy extras.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about the Waikoloa Hotel’s spot in Zhongshan District — you’re actually in a real Taipei neighborhood, not some tourist bubble. Changchun Road puts you within walking distance of local eateries and shops that most visitors never discover, but you’re still well-connected to the main attractions. The MRT access is genuinely convenient (I mean, this is Taipei, so that’s saying something), and I noticed couples seem particularly drawn to this area — there’s something about the tree-lined streets that feels more intimate than the busier districts. Plus, having free private parking is almost unheard of in central Taipei, which explains why so many guests keep coming back.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star hotel — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. The beds are actually quite good (I’m picky about this), and the air conditioning works efficiently, which you’ll definitely appreciate during Taipei’s humid summers. What struck me most was the attention to small details — decent lighting for reading, enough outlets in the right places, and a bathroom that doesn’t feel cramped. It’s not going to wow you with designer touches, but everything functions properly, and after staying in places where basic things don’t work, that reliability feels pretty refreshing.
Breakfast & Dining
The buffet breakfast surprised me in the best way possible. I went in with modest expectations, but they’ve clearly put thought into offering both Western and local options that actually taste good. The congee was particularly well done, and they keep everything fresh throughout the morning service. You know what I appreciated most? They don’t try to do too much — instead of fifty mediocre items, they focus on maybe twenty things done properly. It’s substantial enough that you can skip lunch if you’re planning a busy day of sightseeing, and the coffee is better than what you’ll find at most hotels in this price range.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a hotel that simply gets the basics right every single time. The Waikoloa Hotel has clearly figured out its sweet spot — reliable comfort in a great location without charging premium prices. The fact that they have more repeat guests than most other properties tells you everything you need to know about their consistency. It’s the kind of place where you can focus on exploring Taipei instead of worrying about your accommodation, and honestly, that’s exactly what a good hotel should do.
Taipei hotels keep foodies close to night markets, MRT hubs, and bubble tea ateliers.

The room is comfortable, and the size of the room is beyond our expectations. There is plenty of space to put luggage. It is suitable for personal workers to stay. The parquet floors are comfortable. The clerk at reception was friendly and answered our questions.

Reasonable and pleasant accomodation – Christian from Germany (9/10)
The type of the room was exactly as booked (stayed several nights with interruptions, so in different bookings) and which was very pleasant, a Japanese double room. Also the service employees at the different floors are very attentive and provide you with another bottle of water etc. whenever needed. It is really quiet in the rooms (which is maybe also thanks to the decent people who stayed there at the time of my stay and AC works very well. The hotel is also located quite well and not far to different metro stations (around 5 and 10 mins walking). If you need to go to Songshan airport, you can be there within 20 mins by metro.
Breakfast is included by default and contains various cold and warm dishes every day.
At the top of the building there`s even a quite surprising temple.Lovely stay, worth the price given it was during the busy season. Comfortable bed, attentive staff and huge room with hu – Kathleen from Australia (7/10)
Convenient location as there is family mart, 7 eleven nearby, friendly staff. We were able to check in earlier around 1pm instead of 6pm. Huge bathtub we have gotten in our room.
