The Riviera Hotel Taipei Overview

First Impressions

Walking into The Riviera Hotel Taipei, you immediately get that feeling of stepping into something special without the stuffiness that sometimes comes with upscale places. The lobby has this warm, welcoming vibe — not too flashy, but definitely polished. I mean, it’s a four-star property, so you know they’ve put thought into the details, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup that I really appreciated.

Location & Getting Around

Honestly, the location on Linsen North Road in Taipei‘s Zhongshan District is pretty fantastic. You’re right in the heart of things without being stuck in tourist chaos — which, let me tell you, is harder to find than you’d think in this city. The area has this great mix of local businesses and international spots, and I noticed couples seem to particularly love it here (apparently they rate the location 8.5 out of 10, which makes total sense). There’s actually parking right at the hotel too, which is honestly a godsend if you’re planning to rent a car and explore Taiwan beyond the city.

The Room Experience

The room itself strikes that perfect balance between comfort and style. Nothing feels overdone, but everything works exactly as it should — you know what I mean? The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms are well-designed with good water pressure. What I really liked was how they’ve managed to make the space feel larger than it probably is, with smart lighting and thoughtful layout choices that don’t feel forced. The furnishings are modern and durable, built to withstand regular use while maintaining their aesthetic appeal.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast situation here is actually pretty impressive — they’ve got this buffet setup that covers continental, American, and even halal options, so there’s something for everyone. I was surprised by the quality, honestly. It’s not just the usual hotel breakfast fare; they clearly put effort into variety and freshness. The restaurant area has a nice atmosphere too, not too formal but pleasant enough that you don’t feel like you’re eating in a cafeteria. The culinary team sources quality ingredients and presents them thoughtfully each morning.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both professional and personal at the same time. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work well, and the whole operation runs smoothly without feeling mechanical. Recent guests have been rating it 8.8 for location, which tells you something about how well-positioned it really is for exploring Taipei. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but you’re also in a neighborhood that feels authentically local rather than touristy. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax and feel like you’re experiencing the real city, not just passing through it. The hotel consistently delivers on its promise of comfort and genuine hospitality.

A very nice hotel. No far from public transportation, but not as close to several of the major siteseeing attractions if we planned our stay in a bit more detail.

  • Great Hotel, Great Location – John from Australia (9/10)

Good location, super clean, friendly staff.

  • Exceptional – Kerttu from Estonia (9/10)

    A very charming old hotel.
Loved the atrium between all the floors which made the layout much nicer and less claustrophobic than the endless corridors in new hotels.
Some lounge areas on the floors (especially the main one on the 7th) were similarly charming. Our group was in multiple rooms and we were able to socialize in these areas rather than just sitting in another person's room. And that was a really nice accommodation to have!

  • Wonderful – James from Australia (9/10)
