The Landis Taipei Overview

First Impressions

Walking into The Landis Taipei, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel — there’s something distinctly refined about the marble lobby and the way staff actually remember your name after one interaction. I mean, you expect good service at a five-star property, but this feels more personal somehow. The location on Minquan East Road puts you right in Zhongshan District, which honestly is one of those neighborhoods that locals love but tourists sometimes overlook (their loss, really).

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re positioned perfectly between the business district and the cultural heart of Taipei, but without the chaos of being right downtown. The nearby Xingtian Temple is just a short walk away, and if you know anything about Taipei, that area has some incredible street food that most hotel concierges won’t tell you about. Plus, couples seem to get this location instinctively — there’s something romantic about the tree-lined streets and the mix of modern buildings with traditional touches you’ll find wandering around here.

Upscale Accommodations That Actually Deliver

The rooms at The Landis Taipei strike that sweet spot between elegant and comfortable — you know, where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you’re in a museum. Those beds everyone raves about? They’re legitimately amazing, the kind where you wake up wondering if you can somehow take the mattress home with you. The marble bathrooms feel indulgent without being over-the-top, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without playing Tetris with your luggage.

Breakfast Worth Waking Up For

I’ll be honest — hotel breakfast buffets can be hit or miss, but this one actually gets it right. They’ve got the continental classics covered, but what impressed me was how thoughtfully they handle dietary restrictions with proper vegetarian and vegan options (not just sad fruit plates). The local Taiwanese dishes they include give you a real taste of the city without having to venture out before your first coffee. And speaking of coffee, theirs is actually good — which, you know, isn’t always a given at hotels.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

There’s a reason this place has more repeat visitors than most properties in Taipei — it’s that rare combination of upscale service and genuine warmth that makes business travelers and leisure guests equally happy. The free parking is clutch if you’re planning day trips outside the city, and the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay memorable rather than just efficient. When couples consistently rate the location this highly, and when people keep returning instead of trying somewhere new, well, that tells you something important about what this place gets right. The restaurant offerings and attention to detail throughout your stay create an experience that justifies the investment.

Our room was clean and very spacious. The neighbourhood was nice with a lot of small places to eat at. It was convenient to travel from this location as the bus stop was in front of the house and there was a MRT station nearby. Breakfast was excelent. All staff were very friendly.

The property, staff and services met all my expectations.

  • Well worth the 5-star rating – Cecily from Qatar (9/10)

I stayed at The Landis Taipei in September before I started a tour of Taiwan and again when I finished my tour. On my second visit, I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to an Executive Suite which was a very welcome surprise.
From the moment I stepped in to the hotel it was like stepping back in time. I was greeted by the doorman who was dressed in top hat, waist coat and tails who made me feel most welcome.
It is clear how The Landis Taipei reached its 5-star rating. The lobby itself brings glamour, luxury and order and has clearly been designed with the sophisticated French art deco style in mind. There are rich and deep colors throughout the lobby giving a sense of opulence and grandeur. There are bold geometric shapes on the doors of the three lifts in the lobby as well as the floor. The theme is carried through to The Brasserie, where the plentiful breakfast buffet is served. There is a wide selection of well-presented food on display which caters for both the Asian clientele as well as the others. Excellent coffee is endless with the hospitality staff (all dressed in the French maid attire) are attentive in providing re-fills as required.
The rooms are large and clean with extremely comfortable beds. The linen is crisp and white and well maintained and there is a choice of pillows on the bed ranging from soft to medium hard. Rooms come equipped with i-Pads, flat screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel as joined in the quest to protect the environment by not providing disposable amenities will no longer be offered. Bathroom amenity packs can be purchased for a nominal fee, or can be purchased from one of the local convenience stores nearby.

The Landis Taipei is a fabulous hotel which I would recommend to anyone who wanted to step back in time and feel a sense of warmth and welcoming. It is definitely the place I will return to when if I visit Taiwan in the future.

A beautiful hotel in a good location. Breakfast was good and offered a wide selection of both Asian cuisine and western cuisine. Plentiful coffee each morning at breakfast. The staff were extremely friendly and always greeted the guests. Beds were large and extremely comfortable.
Definitely would be my hotel of choice when I am next in Taipei
