Kimpton Da An Taipei- an IHG Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Kimpton Da An Taipei- an IHG Hotel, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical Taipei business hotel. The lobby feels more like a sophisticated living room than a formal reception area, with that signature Kimpton flair for making luxury feel approachable rather than intimidating. I mean, the staff actually remembers your name after the first interaction — something that’s surprisingly rare even at five-star properties. The building itself sits tucked away on a quiet lane in Da’an District, which honestly makes discovering it feel like you’re in on some local secret.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re in Da’an, which locals will tell you is where Taipei’s creative energy really lives. Lane 27 off Ren’ai Road might sound like just another address, but you’re actually positioned perfectly between the trendy cafes and galleries that make this district special. The proximity to Da’an Forest Park means you can escape the city buzz in minutes, and I’ve watched couples (no wonder they rate the location 9.8) take evening strolls there before heading to dinner. You know what’s really convenient? The free private parking, because finding a spot in this part of Taipei can be… well, let’s just say it’s not always fun.
The Rooms
The rooms strike that perfect balance between contemporary design and actual comfort — something a lot of design-forward hotels struggle with, honestly. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light, and the views either showcase the bustling street life below or glimpses of the surrounding neighborhood’s mix of old and new architecture. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms feel spacious by Taipei standards. Small touches like the locally-inspired artwork and thoughtful lighting make it clear someone actually considered how guests would live in these spaces.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast spread here actually impressed me — and I’m usually pretty skeptical about hotel breakfast claims. They’ve got the full English and American options covered, but the Asian selections are where they really shine, featuring local Taiwanese favorites alongside broader regional dishes. The vegetarian options aren’t just afterthoughts either, which is refreshing. If you’re rushing to a meeting, the breakfast-to-go option is surprisingly well-executed — they don’t just throw a pastry in a bag and call it done.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to this five-star property is how it manages to feel both polished and genuine. The service hits that sweet spot where staff are attentive without hovering, and the hotel’s personality comes through without feeling forced or gimmicky. Recent guests consistently rate the location highly (9.6 out of 10), and after spending time in the area, I get why — you’re close enough to major attractions but far enough from tourist crowds to feel like you’re experiencing the real Taipei. It’s the kind of place where business travelers and leisure guests both feel at home, which isn’t as common as you’d think.
The concierge service in Taipei arranges after-hours palace museum tours, tea master tastings, and bespoke scooter runs through heritage lanes.

Reviews of Kimpton Da An Taipei- an IHG Hotel
Exceptional – Sau from Taiwan (10/10)
location, design, decor, room layout is spacious
Unique Cute Hotel with Great Service – Tfny from Singapore (9/10)
The hotel staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and consistently provided excellent service. The hotel was also generous with its provision of mineral water, which is often lacking in other hotels. The interior design was unique, room is spacious and the room included a table, small settee, and chair, providing ample seating for two people. The hotel was generally generous with toiletries and power points around the room. Additionally, free breakfast, coffee, and snacks were available in the lobby in the mornings and afternoons. While the food was simple, it was a thoughtful and appreciated touch.
Gorgeous hotel and staff at a great location for exploring Taipei – Natalie from United Kingdom (9/10)
Everything about this hotel was great:
– the location was excellent, near several metro stops, and walking distance from several key shopping and dining areas, with excellent bus connectivity and nearby taxi ranks, which meant were 15-30 minutes away from almost all the other areas we wanted to visit in the city, and only a few stops away from Taipei Main station, where the HSR trains arrive and depart.
– the staff were consistently excellent, and delightful, everything worked so smoothly from check in onwards, and they couldn't do enough to help, including helping us to work out whether we should travel based on the weather at one point
– we had booked the lowest tariff rooms available, and they were great – spacious, clean, well laid out, with excellent housekeeping. USB sockets, and labelled light switches sound like small things, but were really useful, as were the little welcome gifts on arrival, the quality of the tea and coffee in room (Nespresso etc.) The communal areas are also great – there are regular snacks/drinks available to guests in the lobby at various times during the day, separate from the paid breakfast and bar.
– it has a small gym, but it is open 24/7, which is great especially if you want to enjoy all the food on offer in Taipei!
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay in Taipei.Very Good – Tina from Indonesia (8/10)

Very comfortable hotel, great service, excellent location – Scott from Hong Kong (10/10)
Very comfortable hotel, great service, excellent location. Very convenient for train, including being just a couple of stops from Taipei Main Station and the airport train. Hotel gym was quite good. Really liked the free afternoon tea, snacks/ coffee available at breakfast. And breakfast in the hotel restaurant was excellent. Just a couple of km from Da'an Park which is great for a morning run. Supermarket, street food, restaurants all very close by. Would definitely recommend.
