109台北旅館-台北109青旅 109 Taipei Hotel – Taipei 109 Hostel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into 109台北旅館-台北109青旅 109 Taipei Hotel – Taipei 109 Hostel, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical budget accommodation. The lobby has this clean, minimalist vibe that feels distinctly Taiwanese — not trying too hard to impress, but everything’s thoughtfully arranged. I mean, it’s technically a three-star property, but the attention to detail honestly surprised me. The staff greets you in both Mandarin and English, and there’s this genuine warmth that sets the tone for your entire stay.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Bo’ai Road in Zhongzheng District — you’re basically in the heart of everything that matters in Taipei. The Presidential Office Building is practically next door, and you can walk to the historic Red House Theater in about ten minutes. What I love most is how you’re surrounded by those narrow alleys filled with traditional breakfast shops and tea houses that tourists usually miss. The MRT stations are close enough that you’ll never feel stranded, but far enough that you’re not dealing with constant crowds. Couples seem to particularly appreciate this balance — there’s romance in wandering these quieter streets at night.
The Rooms
The rooms are compact but smartly designed, which is exactly what you want in Taipei where space is premium. Each bed comes with its own reading light and power outlets (thank goodness), and the linens are surprisingly soft for a hostel-style setup. The bathrooms are shared, but they’re spotless and there are enough of them that you’re never waiting around. What struck me most was the soundproofing — even with other guests coming and going, the rooms stay quiet enough for proper sleep.
Common Areas & Atmosphere
The common areas really make this place special, honestly. There’s a cozy lounge where people actually hang out and chat, not just rush through. You’ll find travelers sharing restaurant recommendations or planning day trips together — it has that authentic backpacker energy without feeling chaotic. The kitchen facilities are well-maintained, which matters if you want to grab ingredients from one of the nearby traditional markets. I noticed guests tend to be a mix of solo travelers and couples, creating this relaxed international vibe that never feels too rowdy or too sterile.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to 109台北旅館-台北109青旅 is how it nails the fundamentals while adding those little extras that show someone cares. The location score speaks for itself — you’re genuinely in one of Taipei’s most walkable neighborhoods, surrounded by authentic local life rather than tourist traps. The value proposition is solid too; you get clean, comfortable accommodation in a prime spot without paying hotel prices. Plus, the staff seems to genuinely enjoy helping guests discover the real Taipei, offering suggestions that go beyond the usual guidebook recommendations. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a temporary local rather than just another tourist passing through.
Exploring Taipei blends incense-filled temples, neon night bazaars, and hikes up Elephant Mountain.

Reviews of 109台北旅館-台北109青旅 109 Taipei Hotel – Taipei 109 Hostel
Nice private room – David from United States of America (10/10)
I stayed in the private room. Just one night. Would stay again. Sunrise was around 5 am -5:15 am, so it was a good thing that there were curtains for the windows. Maps and some tips available from staff at check-in as you would expect from a helpful hostel.
Wonderful – Einat from Israel (9/10)
Location and staff were perfect
Friend and helpful – Ange from Australia (10/10)
Comfy bed, friendly staff and I love how they provided recommendations around Taipei, including breakfast locations. The room I was in, everyone was very quiet and mindful about not making any noises which was great. Location is great for exploring, especially at night because it close to Ximen
Very comfortable – Stuart from Austria (10/10)
I liked that the price for the double room was reasonable and you could choose the towels and amenities and pay only for what you need. We slept well. It was clean.
Perfect stay – Izzat from Singapore (10/10)
Everything is perfect. The room is spacious and nice minimalist design. The receptionist is so kind and knowledgeable about Taipei.
For muslim travelers, the location is perfect, just 1 minute walk from the halal beef noodles shop.Perfect – Rotem from Israel (10/10)
The receptionists were amazing! They helped us above and beyond with everything we needed (even things that has nothing to do with the hostel) and were always smiling and exicited to help.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
We got an upgrade without asking and our room had a couch!
Loved the smart TV and the apperance of the room!
Totally recommanded!Marvelous place at an awesome location! – Maria from Philippines (10/10)
The accommodation exceeded our expectations in terms of the room size and we we're ecstatic about it! The room we stayed in had good space for 4 people and was well-designed and well-lit. I especially like how there was a small table and 2 chairs set-up in one corner. Luggage can be stowed in the space under the beds.
Both the room and the bathroom were so clean! The Japanese-style bidet found on the toilet was a nice surprise as I didn't expect it. It was also nice that they had huge roll of tissue in the bathroom so we never ran out of tissues. Same roll of tissue was also in the room itself.
The accommodation is also near Taipei Main Station (Metro) and if you take Exit 6, you just need to walk straight ahead, crossing one major intersection. Towing a luggage along is also relatively convenient taking this route. The accommodation has an elevator so there's no problem taking up luggage. They can also store your luggage ahead of check-in and after check-out until 7PM for your convenience.
For commute around, we mostly took the metro since Ximen or Taipei Main stations are quite near. You can also find several restaurants and cafes around, going to XiMenDing takes a short walk. You can also ask the helpful host at the counter should you need anything. It was raining when we arrived so we asked if we can borrow umbrellas which we can use and they kindly accommodated our request 🙂Great hostel close to Taipei train station, great position and amazing staff at the counter – Ilaria from Italy (10/10)
The receptionist at the hostel was super friendly and professional. She gave us a warm welcome and many good recommendations of places to visit, restaurants, and public transportation. The hostel is in a great position, close to the train station and the public transportation. The room was like in the picture, spotless and comfortable.
