The Room

Look, this isn’t going to be the biggest room you’ve ever stayed in, but it’s thoughtfully laid out. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with a sore back, and there’s decent storage space for a week’s worth of clothes. What surprised me was how quiet it stays at night — I mean, you’re in the middle of a busy district, but somehow the street noise doesn’t really penetrate. The bathroom is compact but functional, with a shower that actually has good water pressure (which honestly can’t be taken for granted in older Taipei buildings).

Getting Around

The MRT access is genuinely convenient — Ximen Station is close enough that you’re not dragging luggage for blocks, but far enough that you’re not dealing with constant tourist crowds right outside your door. I found myself walking to most places during the day because this part of Wanhua has character you miss when you’re underground. Plus, there’s decent parking nearby if you’re brave enough to drive in Taipei (though I’d honestly recommend against it). Taxis know exactly where Kunming Street is, which saves you from those awkward conversations with drivers trying to find obscure hotel locations.
