Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re in Shilin, which means you’re actually close to some of Taipei’s best-kept secrets without being stuck in the tourist chaos of downtown. The famous Shilin Night Market is totally walkable from here, but you know what’s even better? You can easily reach the National Palace Museum and Yangmingshan National Park. I mean, having free private parking at a Taipei hotel is almost unheard of, so if you’re planning day trips or have a rental car, this place suddenly makes perfect sense. Couples seem to get this location particularly well — there’s something romantic about being slightly removed from the city center while still having everything accessible.

The Room Experience

My room was honestly bigger than I expected for Taipei standards. The design leans modern with subtle Asian touches — nothing too flashy, just well-thought-out comfort. The bed was properly firm (thank goodness), and the bathroom actually had decent water pressure, which isn’t always a given in this city. What struck me most was the attention to small details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and blackout curtains that actually work. The air conditioning was quiet too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag.

Practical Perks

Beyond the parking situation (which I can’t stress enough how valuable this is), Yusense Hotel just handles the basics really well. The WiFi was fast and reliable throughout the building — I could video call from my room without any issues. The front desk staff spoke excellent English and seemed genuinely knowledgeable about the area, not just reading from a script. They helped me figure out the best MRT routes and even suggested some local restaurants that weren’t in my guidebook. It’s these kinds of touches that make a stay feel less transactional, you know?

  The rooms, including the mat, are very clean. You can tell a lot of effort has gone into the cleaning as soon as you step into the room. I didn’t experience any nasal allergies during my stay, nor did I detect any moldy odors. I tried both Western and local meals, and I have to say both were excellent. I was particularly impressed with their Egg Benedict! The wooden design also adds a pleasant vibe to the space. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a truly relaxing stay.

  I absolutely loved the wood finishes. The door was incredibly thick and beautifully made. The breakfast was delicious, there were different choices and the tea is a must.

  The hotel location to the National Palace Museum is fine. MRT is about 2 km away, but there are many bus lines going to MRT Shilin etc. Even the Yangminshan mountains can easily be reached with one of the bus lines. The room size with more than 30 sqm is fine, on the 6th floor guests may easily use the washing machines, dryer etc.
  There is a good individual choice for breakfast.
  
  For Bus and MRT transportation it is recommended to buy an EasyCard.
