San Want Residences Taipei Overview
First Impressions
Walking into San Want Residences Taipei, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical hotel — it’s more like stepping into an upscale residential building where you just happen to be staying temporarily. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels genuinely sophisticated rather than trying too hard, and honestly, the staff here seem to actually remember your name after the first day. I mean, it’s a five-star property, so you’d expect good service, but there’s something refreshingly personal about the approach here that sets it apart from the usual luxury hotel routine.
Prime Zhongshan District Location
The location on Nanjing East Road is honestly brilliant — you’re right in the heart of Taipei’s Zhongshan District, which locals will tell you is one of the best-connected areas in the city. You can walk to Zhongshan MRT station in about five minutes, and from there, you’re basically connected to everywhere that matters. What I really appreciated was being able to stroll to the weekend flower market at Jianguo Holiday Jade Market, and the whole Xinyi shopping district is just a quick metro ride away. The neighborhood has this perfect mix of local life and international accessibility — you know, the kind of area where you’ll find both authentic street food and upscale dining within the same block.
The Apartment-Style Experience
Here’s where San Want really shines — each room feels more like a serviced apartment than a hotel room, with proper living spaces and a fully equipped kitchen that you’ll actually want to use. The beds are genuinely exceptional (and I’m usually pretty picky about this), with that perfect firmness that somehow works whether you’re a side sleeper or back sleeper. The bathrooms are spacious with separate shower areas, and there’s enough storage space that you can actually unpack and settle in properly, even for shorter stays.
Dining and Practical Perks
Breakfast here is this interesting blend of Asian and American options — think congee alongside pancakes, which sounds weird but actually works really well when you’re dealing with jet lag and can’t decide what your stomach wants. The buffet setup is well-organized without feeling overwhelming, and they do this thing where they’ll make fresh eggs to order, which is a nice touch. One thing that surprised me was the free parking — in central Taipei, that’s basically like finding gold, especially if you’re planning any day trips outside the city.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back here is the combination of space, location, and that residential feel that makes longer stays actually comfortable. Couples seem particularly drawn to the place — probably because you get enough room to spread out without being on top of each other, plus the Zhongshan area has this romantic, walkable vibe in the evenings. The staff strikes that perfect balance between being helpful and giving you space, and there’s something about the whole setup that makes you feel like a temporary local rather than just another tourist passing through.

It was a very nice and comfortable stay. The staff at the lobby reception area and on the 2nd floor restaurant are helpful and friendly. The hotel is located between two metro stations and within 10 minutes' walk. Zhongshan district is a vibrant shopping and dining area. There are convenience stores and a McDonald's restaurant near the hotel.

I stayed with my parents for 3 nights. We had three twin beds and the room was spacious and comfortable. The large Japanese tub and the Japanese Toto toilet were nice luxuries. The staff are friendly and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Enjoyable, safe neighborhood. High end property.
