Royal Jade Boutique Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Royal Jade Boutique Hotel feels like discovering a well-kept secret tucked away in Shilin District. The entrance is modest — you might actually walk past it if you’re not paying attention — but that’s part of its charm. This three-star boutique property sits quietly on a narrow lane off Zhongshan North Road, and honestly, the intimate scale works in its favor. There’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try to overwhelm you with a massive lobby or flashy displays.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re in Shilin, which means you’re close to the famous night market without being right in the chaos of it all. The hotel’s position on Lane 14 gives you that local neighborhood feel, where you’ll see Taiwanese families going about their daily routines. Couples seem to particularly appreciate this spot (they’ve rated it 8.7), and I get why — it’s romantic in an understated way. You can easily walk to Shilin MRT station, and having private parking available is actually a big deal in Taipei, where finding a spot can be a nightmare.
The Rooms
The rooms live up to that “boutique” promise with thoughtful touches that bigger hotels often miss. Each space feels carefully designed rather than cookie-cutter, and you’ll notice details like quality linens and well-placed lighting that actually works for reading. The bathrooms are compact but functional — this is Taipei, after all, where space is premium. What impressed me most was how quiet everything stays despite being in the city; those lane-side rooms really do buffer the street noise well.
Breakfast & Dining
The Asian buffet breakfast is where Royal Jade Boutique Hotel really shows its local character. You’ll find congee, steamed buns, and pickled vegetables alongside more familiar options — it’s the kind of spread that gives you a genuine taste of Taiwanese morning food culture. The buffet isn’t huge, but everything I tried was fresh and well-prepared. I mean, you’re not going to get the endless selection of a five-star hotel, but for a three-star property, they’ve put real thought into offering authentic local flavors.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to this place is that perfect balance of location and value. Recent guests have consistently rated the location highly (8.6), and after staying here, I understand the appeal. You’re getting that authentic Taipei neighborhood experience without sacrificing comfort or convenience. The staff genuinely seems to care about your stay, and there’s something to be said for a hotel where you feel like a guest rather than just another room number. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — just a well-run, thoughtfully designed boutique hotel that happens to sit in one of Taipei’s most livable districts.

Wonderful – Emily from Vietnam (9/10)
It was a small room, but the space is exceptionally well designed, with a place under the bed to stow cases etc- there was even a small bath tub! Very comfortable room with a great bed. It's in a lovely neighbourhood with all kinds of excellent restaurants, bars and coffee shops around. They helped keep our bicycles safe in a back room. An excellent option for the price.
