When I first walked into Royal Inn Taipei Linsen – Huashan 1914 Creative Park, I’ll be honest — the elevator ride to the 4th floor had me wondering what I’d gotten myself into. Plus, you’re close enough to the main action but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds every time you step outside.

The Room Experience

The room itself was smaller than what you’d find at international chains, but it was clean and thoughtfully designed. Everything you need is there — decent Wi-Fi, a comfortable bed, and a bathroom that actually has good water pressure (trust me, this matters after long days of walking around the city). The windows give you glimpses of the neighborhood below, and there’s something oddly charming about watching the local street life unfold. It’s not fancy, but it feels authentic in a way that bigger hotels sometimes miss.

Morning Fuel

The buffet breakfast surprised me — and I don’t say that lightly after staying at countless hotels across Asia. They’ve got a solid mix of Western basics and local Taiwanese options, which means you can ease into the day with familiar foods or dive straight into trying something new. The coffee was actually drinkable (again, not always a given), and the staff seemed genuinely happy to explain what different dishes were. It’s served in a compact space, so don’t expect a grand dining hall, but the quality more than makes up for the size.

Couples especially seem to get this place — they consistently rate the location highly, and I can see why. You’re in one of Taipei’s best-rated neighborhoods with easy access to both cultural attractions and practical necessities. The MRT connections are solid, so you can get anywhere in the city without much hassle. What really won me over, though, was how the hotel feels like it belongs in its neighborhood rather than being dropped in from some corporate playbook. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually staying in Taipei, not just passing through it.

  The breakfast buffet mainly showcased steamed buns, boiled pork sausages, stir-fried noodles and vegetables, three types of breads that could be toasted, ham, cheese, fruits and pickled veggies. Another egg dish option would be great. Only hard-boiled eggs were available during our stay. There was a couple of cereal options, as well as milk, coffee and juice.
  
  We liked that they had sustainable practices in place. The water fountain located on the landing of each floor (it gives both hot and cold water) was a great way to avoid offering bottled water in the rooms. You also request for bath amenities from the Reception, as they do not provide disposable amenities in the room. There were shampoo and shower gel in refillable containers inside the shower. The best bit is the Japanese toilet which had a heated seat!
  
  The Front Office staff were amazing. We requested assistance in booking a taxi for a day tour and it took no time at all to confirm. They also spoke English, probably the only ones in the hotel. Check-in and check-out were a breeze.
  
  Location was great and Uber drivers didn't have problems finding it. It was also a few minutes ride from the places we wanted to visit.
