Orange Hotel – Ximen, Taipei Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Orange Hotel – Ximen, Taipei for the first time, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star property. But you know what? This place completely changed my perspective on what a mid-range hotel can deliver. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe with pops of orange throughout — nothing fancy, but it feels fresh and welcoming. The staff greeted me in both Mandarin and English, which immediately put me at ease since my Chinese is pretty terrible.
Location Magic
Here’s where this hotel really shines — the location is absolutely unbeatable. You’re literally in the heart of Ximending, which is like Taipei’s Times Square but way more fun and less overwhelming. I mean, step outside and you’re surrounded by night markets, street food vendors, and some of the best shopping in the city. The Red House theater is just a two-minute walk away, and honestly, I spent most evenings just wandering around the pedestrian area soaking up the energy. What really surprised me was how quiet my room stayed despite being in such a bustling area — the windows must have decent soundproofing.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but smartly designed — every inch of space actually serves a purpose. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom, while small, had everything I needed including a decent shower with good water pressure. There’s no restaurant in the hotel, but honestly, with all the incredible food options right outside your door, you won’t miss it. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was crucial during my July visit when Taipei felt like a sauna.
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast situation is pretty unique here — they do breakfast to go, which I actually loved. Instead of sitting in a crowded hotel dining room, I could grab my meal and eat it while exploring the morning markets or finding a nice spot in a nearby park. The selection isn’t huge, but it’s fresh and filling enough to fuel a day of sightseeing. Parking can be tricky in this area (like most of central Taipei), but the MRT station is so close that you really don’t need a car anyway.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place special isn’t fancy amenities — it’s the perfect balance of comfort, location, and value. I’ve stayed in pricier hotels in Taipei that felt sterile and disconnected from the city’s pulse, but Orange Hotel drops you right into the action while giving you a clean, comfortable base to retreat to. The Ximending location means you’re walking distance from incredible street food, vintage shops, and some of the city’s best nightlife. Plus, the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay smooth — they helped me figure out the best routes to various attractions and even recommended a hole-in-the-wall dumpling place that became my obsession for the rest of the trip.

Comfortable stay! – Si from Singapore (9/10)
Stayed in the room with up and down bunk beds. Space was enough for 2 large luggage. Got a mini snack bar at B1. To get into the room, scan a dynamically generated QR given by the hotel. Bed was comfortable. Can pick up whatever one-time use items from the reception like bedroom slippers, toothbrush etc
Amazing – Ervie from Philippines (9/10)
Everything… location… staff… amenities
Wonderful – Ruebini from Malaysia (9/10)
Overall, the room was perfect for two people, providing a great night’s rest after a long day of exploring Taipei. The hotel's location was especially advantageous—very close to Ximending, yet far enough to avoid the noise from the hustle and bustle of vendors.
Beautiful hotel – Elaine from Philippines (9/10)
I likr everything in this tiny hotel. The proximity in ximending area, in train and bus stations. Its so easy to walk around. I loved eating breakfast at moes burger because of their breakfast vouchers. The free food and drinks are good too. Loved the UCC coffee. The staff were nice, bed is massive and although entire room is small but functional. Loved the view from our room. With water station on our floor with free tea. How awesome could it be.
Wonderful – Wing from Singapore (9/10)
Very near to train station. The only exit from train station that has lift access is exit 6. From exit 6, just need to cross the road and walk 2 mins to reach hotel. Nearest train exit is exit 1 where you don't need to cross the road.
