The MRT station is so close you’ll barely break a sweat getting there, which is crucial when you’re hauling luggage around this humid city. Couples seem to absolutely love this spot — and after spending a few days here, I totally get why the location scores so high with them.

The Room Experience

The rooms are compact but smartly designed — I mean, this is Taipei, so you’re not expecting sprawling suites anyway. What impressed me was how they managed to fit everything you actually need without making it feel cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the air conditioning worked like a dream (trust me, you’ll appreciate this in Taiwan’s summer heat). The bathroom is small but functional, with a decent shower that has proper water pressure. There’s free WiFi that actually works well, which isn’t always a given even in tech-savvy Taiwan.

Exploring the Area

Being right in Ximending means you’re surrounded by some of the best street food, quirky shops, and late-night entertainment in the city. I loved being able to grab breakfast at one of the traditional Taiwanese spots nearby, then spend the day exploring the maze of alleys filled with everything from trendy boutiques to old-school tea houses. The Red House theater is practically next door, and there’s always something interesting happening in the surrounding streets. You’ll find yourself coming back to the hotel throughout the day just because it’s so easy to drop off shopping bags or take a quick break.

What really makes this three-star hotel work is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it just nails the basics while putting you in one of Taipei’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The value is solid, especially considering you’re paying for that prime Ximending location without the premium price tag of fancier hotels. It’s the kind of place where you’ll spend most of your time out exploring anyway, but you’ll actually look forward to coming back at the end of the day. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about being able to stroll through the bustling streets and then retreat to your cozy room above it all.

  Very good location, and a big room (quadruple) with comfy beds. Located on the 9th floor so traffic noise was acceptable. We actually tried to book here again when we came back through Taipei, so we weren't particularly put off by my negative comment below, once we had our bearings!
