Moshamanla Hotel – Ximen Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Moshamanla Hotel – Ximen, you immediately get that cozy, no-nonsense vibe that makes you feel like you’ve found a hidden gem. It’s a three-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — and honestly, that’s exactly what I loved about it. The lobby is compact but welcoming, and the staff genuinely seems happy to see you. You know what really struck me? How many guests I overheard mentioning they’d stayed here before, which always tells you something about a place.
Location & Neighborhood
The location in Taipei is absolutely spot-on — you’re right in the heart of Ximen, which is basically the Times Square of Taipei but way more manageable and fun. I mean, you step outside and you’re surrounded by street food vendors, quirky shops, and that electric energy that makes this district so addictive. The night markets are literally a two-minute walk away, and getting to other parts of the city is incredibly easy with Ximen MRT station so close. Couples seem to particularly love this area — I can see why, since there’s something romantic about wandering these neon-lit streets together after dark.
The Room Experience
The room itself is compact but smartly designed — typical for Taipei, really. What impressed me was how they maximized every inch of space without making it feel cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the air conditioning worked like a dream (crucial during those humid Taipei summers). The bathroom is small but functional, with a decent shower that actually has good water pressure. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with size, but everything you need is there and it’s spotlessly clean.
Value & Practical Details
For a three-star hotel in this prime location, the value is honestly hard to beat. I’ve stayed in pricier places in Taipei that didn’t offer nearly as much character or such easy access to everything. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout the building, which matters when you’re trying to navigate a new city or share those night market food photos. There’s no fancy restaurant or elaborate amenities, but that keeps costs down and the focus on what actually matters — a clean, comfortable base for exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is that repeat guest factor — people genuinely come back here, and that speaks volumes. It’s the kind of hotel where the staff remembers your name, where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with personality rather than just another generic chain property. The Ximen location means you’re plugged into authentic Taipei life from the moment you step outside, and for travelers who want to experience the real energy of the city without breaking the bank, this hits the sweet spot perfectly.

Comfortable beds, clean sheets, clean bathroom. The aircon and the wifi worked well, and there's a water dispenser in the lobby. I didn't hear any noise from other rooms during my stay. The location is very good, close enough to walk to the station / into the city.
For the price, you can't complain! Know what you're paying for. – Matt from United Kingdom (7/10)
Good air con, good shower facilities, beds were really comfy. Daily room cleaning. Free water each day. It's not as bad as everyone made it out to be on the reviews. Maybe because we were on the 10th floor, I heard the 5th and 8th floor were noisy, but we had no noise issues on the 10th floor.
