Journey Town Inn Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Journey Town Inn feels like discovering one of those perfectly placed gems that locals somehow keep to themselves. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Taipei’s Zhongshan District, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building itself is unassuming from the outside — you’ll find it on the 6th floor of a typical Taiwanese commercial building on Songjiang Road — but that’s actually part of its charm.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what really impressed me about this place? The neighborhood buzz is incredible, especially in the evenings when the street food vendors start setting up and the whole area comes alive. Couples seem to absolutely love it here (they’ve rated the location 9.6 for romantic getaways), and I can see why. You’re walking distance from some of Taipei’s best night markets, and the MRT connections are so easy that you’ll never feel stuck. The property actually scored 9.5 for location, which makes perfect sense once you start exploring the area.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — you can tell they’ve really maximized every square inch without making it feel cramped. The windows offer decent city views, and the air conditioning works like a dream (crucial during Taipei’s humid summers, trust me). What I appreciated most was how quiet it stays despite being in such a bustling district. The soundproofing is surprisingly good, so you get the energy of the neighborhood without the noise keeping you up at night.
Practical Details
The staff here genuinely care about making your stay smooth, and their English is solid enough for most conversations. I mean, they’re not running a five-star concierge service, but they’ll point you toward the best local spots and help with basic travel questions. The Wi-Fi is reliable throughout the building, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in older Taipei buildings. One thing to note — since it’s on the 6th floor, you’ll be taking an elevator, but it’s modern and well-maintained. The parking facilities are conveniently located nearby for guests with vehicles.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.2 overall rating, this place clearly hits the sweet spot between location, comfort, and value. What really sets Journey Town Inn apart is how it puts you right in the middle of authentic Taipei life without the tourist markup you’d get closer to Taipei 101. The combination of being in the top-rated area of the city while maintaining that neighborhood feel is pretty special. You’re not just staying in Taipei — you’re actually experiencing how the city flows and breathes, especially if you take time to wander the surrounding streets and try the local food scene that’s literally at your doorstep. The restaurant options within walking distance are exceptional and diverse.

Reviews of Journey Town Inn
Perfectly quiant and central location – Maria from Singapore (10/10)
I loved the location, it was so central and really convenient to go to areas of interest either by train or just walking. It was very near the MRT station as well when you exit. The rooms looked exactly as the photo. It was clean, the bathroom was excellent – water pressure was great. The staff were very nice, they helped us arrange an airport transfer for an early flight and it was very reasonably priced. They offer free tea and coffee. Lots of eating places nearby. They had a working television and an airconditioner that could also be a heater.
cute place and friendly staff! – Carleigh from Canada (9/10)
very homey stay, the room was comfy and the staff was kind and friendly
9/10. Deserves the high score – Huang from Canada (9/10)
Just like the other reviews have said. This is a mini hotel with great CP value. We booked one of the corner rooms with bathtub. The room was new, clean, big, and with great city view. The location is also one of the best, with 1 min walk to a major MRT.
Very recommended – Schlyppi from Germany (10/10)
The staff was extremely nice and supportive. They were always available, when we needed them. We checked in during their absence, which was described very good and therefore super easy and convenient for us.
The location is perfect. You have a 7eleven downstairs, some restaurants and noodle shops very close nearby, and just 2 minutes walking we had two different breakfast shops. And the MRT. It's so convenient to have two lines directly next to you. Basically you can reach every corner of the city in a few minutes. For half-day trips to Keelung, Jiufen, of Shifen you can easyly go to train station Songshan from here.
They changed towels and cleaned the room during our stay, offered lots of drinking water, we used the washing machine, everything for free. And there's silent air conditioning everywhere. The staff really went out of their way to help me with my requests! I really appreciate their effort. – Zongyao from Hong Kong (10/10)
Convenient location, good facility, reasonable price, very helpful staff
Exceptional – Elina from France (10/10)
We have stayed in the classical double room for more than 2 weeks.
The staff is very kind and friendly. They always try to do their best to meet your expectations. We arrived in Taipei early in the morning and could leave the luggage in the hotel while waiting in the city for our check in. They exceptionally accepted a check in at 2 pm instead of 3pm since we were exhausted from our flight.
Some customers were noisy but after talking with the staff, there was less noise.
The hotel is very near the green and yellow MRT line. This is very convenient.
The room is very clean. The mini fridge and AC were saving us from the heat.
We were very happy with the staff and will come back next time.Exceptional – Martin from Czech Republic (10/10)
This accommodation was by far the best hotel experience we've had after booking countless different hotels over our 6-month stay in Taiwan. The room was so well-prepared and pristinely clean it felt like we were the first ever guests. Apart from the cleanliness, both the lobby and our room (including the bathroom) were adorably decorated which added a very nice artistic touch. Last but not least, I need to address the overall service the staff provided us with. We needed somewhere to stay during the following day due to our airplane taking off being late at night and not only did they let us store our luggage there until whatever time we needed, we could also use their lobby's facilities to our advantage.
Hidden Gem – Kierann from Australia (8/10)
Immaculately clean. Great size room and good shelf area to open up your suitcase. Comfortable bed, air conditioning worked well and was quiet. Bathroom seems like it almost brand new and is extremely clean. Really convenient location for public transport. Had an enjoyable stay.
