Hotel Relax I Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked into Hotel Relax I, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place tucked away on the 11th floor of a building on Guanqian Road. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages. The elevator ride up gives you a moment to wonder what you’ve gotten yourself into, but once those doors open, there’s this immediate sense of calm that hits you — which I guess explains the name.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about staying in Taipei — location is everything, and this place nailed it. Being in Zhongzheng District puts you right in the thick of things without the chaos of some other neighborhoods. I mean, couples are rating the location 9.1 out of 10, and after spending a few days here, I totally get why. You’re walking distance from the Presidential Office Building, and honestly, the whole area feels like the heart of old Taipei. The MRT connections are solid too, which matters when you’re trying to explore the city without burning through your budget on taxis.

The Room Experience

The room itself is what I’d call efficiently designed — not huge, but everything has its place. The beds are actually comfortable (I was pleasantly surprised), and the air conditioning works well, which is crucial during Taipei’s humid summers. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in such a central location. The windows face different directions depending on which room you get, but I lucked out with a view that let me watch the city wake up each morning.

Morning Fuel

The continental breakfast is pretty straightforward — nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. There’s the usual spread of bread, some local touches, coffee that’s better than I expected, and fresh fruit. I actually appreciated that it wasn’t trying to be something it wasn’t. You eat, you fuel up for the day, and you’re ready to tackle whatever Taipei throws at you. The breakfast area has this relaxed vibe where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling rushed.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this is a comfortable hotel, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything more. What it does well is give you a clean, comfortable base in an excellent part of the city without breaking the bank. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work, and there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on the basics and executes them properly. For couples especially, the combination of the great location and the peaceful atmosphere seems to hit the sweet spot. You’re close enough to everything that matters, but you can actually unwind when you come back at the end of the day.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Taipei around Yonghe for breakfast soy milk stalls, indie bookstores, and quiet temples.

Reviews of Hotel Relax I

  • Great location, very clean – Justyna from United Kingdom (8/10)

I was very happy I chose Relax 1 hotel for my visit to Taipei. The location was very convenient, being so close to the train station and mrt station. The room was spacious and clean. It was also very quiet. We had a family room and it was enough space for the three of us. The staff was really helpful, and assisted with all requests. Hotel facilities were excellent – they even offer a self-service laundry to their guests. There is a coffee machine in the common room as well.
    Very good value for money!

Location of the hotel is superb. Very near the Taipei Main station. Most day tours start from here. The rooms were very clean and appeared new.

  • Central location with good connectivity. Crowded area – Yohannan from India (7/10)

    Most requirements provided.

  • Modern, convenient; comfortable. – Andrew from Australia (8/10)

Close to Taiwan Main Station, surrounded by food and convenience stores, easy to find (sharing a building foyer with Macdonalds). Avoiding a “windowless room” option, the well lit and modern bathroom was adjacent to a very comfortable room with all that was needed for a short stay. Very warm welcome. Drinking water dispensers are plentiful. Excellent value for money.

  • Very Good – See from Singapore (8/10)

    Convenience and nearby many shops

  • Very Good – Chris from United Kingdom (8/10)

Great location. Convenient for tourists. Sushi and Mcdonald on the same building.
