Hotel Lee-Chan Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel Lee-Chan on the 7th floor of this busy Taipei building, you might wonder if you’re in the right place — but honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and I actually appreciate that straightforward approach. The lobby is compact but clean, and the staff immediately made me feel welcome despite the language barrier. You know what struck me most? How quiet it gets once you’re inside, considering you’re right in the middle of one of Taipei’s busiest districts.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Bade Road — you’re basically in the heart of everything that matters in Songshan District. I mean, couples rate this location nearly 9 out of 10 for good reason. You can walk to multiple MRT stations, which honestly saves you so much time and money when you’re exploring the city. The night markets are close enough that you’ll smell the stinky tofu wafting through the streets (in the best way possible), and I found myself stumbling upon local eateries that definitely aren’t in any guidebook. Plus, if you need to get to Songshan Airport, you’re looking at maybe 15 minutes by taxi.
The Room Experience
My room was smaller than what you’d expect back home, but that’s pretty standard for Taipei — and they’ve actually used the space quite cleverly. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep after long days of walking around the city, and the air conditioning worked perfectly (crucial during Taiwan’s humid summers). The bathroom is compact but functional, with decent water pressure that I wasn’t really expecting. What I liked most was how clean everything felt — you can tell they take maintenance seriously here, even if the furnishings aren’t exactly cutting-edge.
Practical Details
There’s no fancy restaurant on-site, but honestly, you don’t want to eat hotel food when you’re surrounded by some of the best street food in Asia. The front desk can point you toward breakfast spots within a two-minute walk, and I found this little place that serves incredible dan bing that became my daily ritual. The WiFi works well throughout the building, which matters when you’re trying to navigate a new city or stay in touch with people back home. Parking isn’t really an option here, but you won’t need a car anyway — Taipei’s public transportation will get you everywhere you want to go.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Hotel Lee-Chan isn’t going to wow you with amenities or Instagram-worthy interiors, but it delivers on what actually matters when you’re exploring Taipei. The location really is exceptional — I could walk to different neighborhoods, hop on the MRT easily, and always felt safe coming back late at night. The staff genuinely tries to help, even when communication gets tricky, and the price point leaves you with more money to spend on the incredible food scene outside your door. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just get the basics right, and this little hotel definitely falls into that category.
Apartments in Taipei suit remote workers with tatami-inspired lounges, fast fiber, and bike parking for riverside trails.
