Forward Hotel Taipei Nangang Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Forward Hotel Taipei Nangang, you immediately notice how the lobby strikes that perfect balance between modern and welcoming — it’s sleek without feeling cold, you know? The staff greeted me in both Mandarin and English, which honestly made the check-in process smoother than I expected for a three-star property. What caught my attention right away was how spotless everything looked, from the polished floors to the contemporary furniture that doesn’t try too hard to be trendy.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Nangang District — it’s not where most tourists end up, but that’s actually what makes Forward Hotel Taipei Nangang such a find. You’re in a genuine Taipei neighborhood where locals live and work, yet the Nangang Exhibition Center MRT station is just a short walk away. I mean, you can reach Taipei Main Station in about 20 minutes, and honestly, the couples I chatted with in the elevator were raving about how easy it was to explore the city from here. The area around Sanchong Road has this authentic vibe with local eateries and convenience stores — perfect for grabbing late-night snacks or trying street food without the tourist crowds.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed, which seems to be the Forward Hotel approach — making every square meter count. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a three-star hotel, and I actually slept better than I have at some pricier places. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details: plenty of outlets near the desk, decent water pressure in the shower, and blackout curtains that actually work (trust me, this matters when you’re dealing with jet lag). The air conditioning was quiet too, which you don’t always get in older Taipei hotels.
Breakfast & Dining
The buffet breakfast exceeded my expectations — and I’m usually pretty skeptical about hotel breakfast spreads. They’ve got a solid mix of Western basics and Taiwanese options, including congee that’s actually worth getting up early for. The coffee isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s decent enough to get you going. What impressed me was how they kept everything fresh even during busy morning hours, and the dining area has these large windows that let in natural light, making the whole experience feel less cafeteria-like than some hotel breakfast setups.
Why Guests Love It
After spending a few days here, I get why this place scores so well with visitors — it’s the kind of hotel that doesn’t promise the moon but delivers consistently on the basics that matter. The location really is the star here, giving you that authentic Taipei experience while keeping you connected to the rest of the city. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about staying somewhere that feels more residential than touristy. You’re not paying for amenities you won’t use, but you’re getting clean, comfortable accommodations with staff who seem to genuinely care about your stay going smoothly.

If you have conference or businnes in the TaiNex center is great. Otherwise it is far from the center. But connection by metro is very convenient.
The hotel is small and cozy, very clean, with confortable beds and a great breakfast full of delicious Asian food.I would like to come back to this hotel for solo or family. – Henry from Hong Kong (9/10)
Closed to the MRT station and there is a big shopping mall nearby. The room is quite spacious.

Hotel was dated but clean but be aware that walls are thin! – Lai from United Kingdom (7/10)
Hotel is about 10 minutes from the MRT. It’s on the blue line which is on the same line to a little of the attractions. The hotel is a bit dated but clean and has all the facilities provided and more with free self service laundry. Breakfast is provided but the choices were not great. Rooms are not not sound proof and the main bedroom doors have gaps under the door. We were told to be quiet for just talking in the night in our own room as other guests could hear us. Ended up having to whisper which as ridiculous! They missed cleaning our room one morning and as we returned in the evening housekeeping were not available. The receptionists
was apologetic and quickly provided us with clean towels, etc.location, clean, and friendly staff. – Liu from United States of America (9/10)
