Walking into E-House Hotel on the eighth floor of a building in Wanhua District, I’ll be honest — it’s not what you’d expect from street level. The elevator ride up actually builds a bit of anticipation, and when those doors open, you’re greeted by a clean, modern lobby that feels surprisingly spacious for Taipei. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not, but there’s a genuine warmth to the place that hits you right away.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about Kunming Street — you’re literally in the heart of everything without the chaos of the main tourist strips. The hotel sits in what locals consider one of the best areas in the city, and honestly, I can see why couples rate this spot so highly. You can walk to Ximending’s shopping and street food scene in about ten minutes, but when you want to escape the crowds, you just slip back to this quieter pocket of Wanhua. The MRT connections are solid too, which means you’re never really stuck anywhere.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — every inch serves a purpose here. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range property, and I appreciated the attention to details like good lighting for reading and enough outlets for all my devices. The bathroom is small, sure, but it’s clean and functional with a decent shower. What struck me most was how quiet everything felt despite being in such a central location — the windows do a great job blocking out street noise. The space maximizes comfort without unnecessary frills.

Neighborhood Discoveries

This is where staying here gets interesting. Wanhua District has this authentic local vibe that you miss in some of the more touristy areas. There’s a traditional market just a few blocks away where you can grab incredible breakfast dumplings for practically nothing, and the night market scene here feels more genuine — less performative, if you know what I mean. I found myself wandering these streets more than I expected, discovering little tea shops and noodle joints that don’t make it into guidebooks. The neighborhood truly rewards exploration.

  Three adorable felines have made their home in the pantry area balcony at level 10.

  Ok hotel, but not great. The pictures look a lot nicer than it actually is. The place is clean, but is really in need of an upgrade (e.g. bathroom). The 'rooftop terrace' is also not in great condition anymore. Cats were friendly though.

  The female receptionist during my check-in was very friendly and even gave me a call to let me know that there was a room available for me to check into early. She also helped to arrange an airport pick-up service for me upon request, and the other receptionist who was on shift when I checked out early in the morning made sure that I was picked up by the correct driver.
  
  The exterior of the building is a bit old and run down, but the room itself was good and clean (slightly dated decor, but I didn't mind + I only had to stay for a night). I stayed alone in a double deluxe room so I had plenty of room; it's definitely spacious enough for two people. Location is great too and close to where all the action is in Ximending.

  The girl in front office are very nice, her name is Linda if im not mistaken. Good location, with a lot of complimentary, like noodles, coffee, candies, biscuits.etc. If you are smoker they have designated smoking area at 10th floor.
