Citizen Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Citizen Hotel, you immediately get that “this place gets it” feeling. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — just a solid three-star hotel that actually delivers on what matters most. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without being sterile, and honestly, the staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests rather than just going through the motions.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying in Taipei‘s Zhongzheng District — you’re basically in the heart of everything without the chaos of some other central areas. I mean, couples are rating this location a 9.1, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can walk to the Presidential Office Building, grab amazing street food in nearby alleys, and the MRT connections are ridiculously easy. What really surprised me was how quiet the room stayed despite being so central — the windows must be pretty decent quality.
The Room Experience
The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed in that way Taiwanese hotels seem to master. Everything has its place, the bed was actually comfortable (not just “hotel comfortable”), and the bathroom felt modern without being cramped. You know what I appreciated? The little details like having enough outlets near the bed and blackout curtains that actually work. The air conditioning was quiet too, which matters more than you’d think in Taipei’s humidity. Storage space is cleverly maximized throughout.
Breakfast & Practical Perks
The buffet breakfast was honestly better than I expected for a three-star place. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s a good mix of Western and local options, and the coffee was drinkable — which isn’t always a given. What really sets this place apart though is the free private parking. If you’re planning to rent a car or have friends picking you up, this is huge in central Taipei where parking can cost a fortune and be nearly impossible to find. The breakfast service runs from 6:30 to 10 AM daily.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Citizen Hotel isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails the fundamentals that actually matter when you’re traveling. The location means you can explore on foot, the rooms are comfortable enough that you’ll sleep well, and those little touches like reliable wifi and helpful staff make the difference between an okay stay and one you’d actually recommend. For the price point, especially with that quality breakfast and free parking thrown in, it’s one of those places that just makes sense — particularly if you’re more interested in exploring Taipei than hanging out in your hotel room all day. Returning guests consistently praise the value and attentive service.
