Cho Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Cho Hotel on Kunming Street, you immediately get the sense that this place knows exactly what it’s doing. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — honestly, that’s what I liked about it right away. This three-star property sits perfectly in Wanhua District, and you can tell from the moment you step inside that they’ve put real thought into making guests comfortable without all the unnecessary frills.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Taipei — location can make or break your entire trip, and Cho Hotel absolutely nails this part. I mean, there’s a reason couples rate the location 9.5 out of 10 for romantic getaways. You’re right in the heart of one of the city’s most authentic neighborhoods, where you’ll find those hole-in-the-wall eateries that locals actually frequent. The night markets are practically on your doorstep, and getting to the main tourist spots is surprisingly easy from here. What I really appreciated was how walkable everything felt — you know how some hotels claim great locations but you end up taking taxis everywhere? Not the case here.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d want from a well-run three-star hotel. Clean lines, comfortable bedding, and everything actually worked properly (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given). The space felt thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together — there’s decent storage, good lighting for getting ready, and the air conditioning was quiet enough that it didn’t keep me up at night. It’s not going to wow you with marble bathrooms or designer furniture, but it delivers on the basics really well.
What Sets It Apart
You know what really impressed me about this place? The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure guests had what they needed. I had a few questions about getting around the city, and instead of just handing me a generic map, they took the time to give me actual recommendations based on what I was interested in. The whole operation feels like it’s run by people who understand hospitality — not just going through the motions, but actually thinking about the guest experience. Plus, the common areas stay clean throughout the day, which tells you something about how they manage the property.
Why Guests Love It
After spending time here, I totally get why this hotel consistently gets such high ratings. It’s that sweet spot where you’re getting solid value without feeling like you’re compromising on the things that actually matter during your stay. The location score of 9.5 isn’t just a number — it reflects how this place puts you right where you want to be in Taipei. Whether you’re here for the food scene, the culture, or just exploring the city, you’ll find yourself perfectly positioned to make the most of your time. It’s the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Good location, a lot of restaurants nearby, close to the underground station and 711; Free drinks and snacks; distinctive design both outside and inside from an Asian perspective; Quiet; the room and the postcard are lovely, sofa on the ground floor is comfortable
Nice. – Jerome from United Arab Emirates (8/10)
The property is pretty basic, if you are a traveller it’s already enough, you just basically go back to the hotel to sleep because most of the time you are outside the city. The location was also good and it is near to the metro, just few mins walk. I don’t have any complaints because it is what it is. It is enough for me. I liked it. It is near to so many restaurants and shopping centre.
Excellent stay as always! – Nadzwa from United Arab Emirates (9/10)
This is our second time in this amazing Cho Hotel in Wanhua, this time with our 2 teenagers. We were allocated in room 311. Though its a tad small, the 4 of us still felt comfortable enough. Our room had Japanese style toilet seat with a separate hand bidet. The water pressure in the shower was excellent with hot and cold. The soap and shampoo dispenser smells so good lemon grass scent. The 2 queen beds and pillows were comfortable. It has a big smart tv, kettle, cups, tea bags and a small fridge. The room has big window for extra light during the day. I rated the rooms 4 stars as some might find it on a very smaller side.
For all other amenities, you can go to the reception to collect. They have a second floor lounge room with cup noodles, coffee, snacks, water and some sodas available 24 hours a day. They also have a laundry room to use the washing machines, dryers and steaming iron for free anytime.
It is conveniently located too with so many restaurants and shops around. Ximen MRT is about 7 minutes walk.
We also availed the hotel airport transfers with a fair fees.
