The bed was actually comfortable (not always a given at this price point), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that makes you want to stay in longer than you should. What I really loved was stepping outside and immediately being in this authentic part of Taipei. There’s a traditional medicine shop right around the corner, and honestly, just watching the locals go about their daily routine was fascinating. The street food scene here is incredible — you’ll find some of the best xiaolongbao without the tourist markup. Plus, if you’re into temples, Xiahai City God Temple is just a short walk away, and it’s way less crowded than the famous ones everyone visits.

  It was very close to Taipei main station which was handy when getting around the city.
  The staff were very friendly and helpful when required.
  
  It was very close (opposite) to a laundrette, so we were able to do the washing for little cost and without carting it for ever back to a hotel.
  
  
  
  The only downside was that we unfortunately did not have a window. And the bed was against the wall which made it more difficult for 1 of us to get out of bed. Despite this, we enjoyed the stay and would book again to explore the city around the hotel.
