Apause Inn Overview
First Impressions
When I first walked into Apause Inn, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place in Taipei. But you know what? Sometimes the smaller hotels surprise you in the best ways. The lobby is compact but thoughtfully designed, and there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about the details here. The staff greeted me in both Mandarin and English, which — let’s be real — makes everything smoother when you’re jet-lagged and trying to figure out your first night in Taiwan.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Guanqian Road in Zhongzheng District — it’s one of those addresses that locals nod approvingly at when you mention it. You’re literally steps away from some of Taipei’s best street food (I mean, the xiaolongbao place around the corner became my daily obsession), and the MRT connections are incredibly easy. I watched couples constantly walking by with that relaxed, exploring-the-city vibe, which makes total sense given how walkable everything is from here. The Presidential Office Building is close enough for a morning stroll, and you can actually reach most major attractions without feeling like you’re commuting across the entire city.
The Room Experience
My room was smaller than what you’d find in American hotels, but that’s pretty standard for Taipei — and honestly, it was perfectly functional. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I appreciated the modern touches like decent WiFi and a clean, updated bathroom. What struck me most was how quiet it stayed despite being in such a central location. The air conditioning worked well (crucial during Taiwan’s humid summers), and there were enough outlets for all my devices. It’s not fancy, but everything you need is there and works properly.
Why People Keep Coming Back
There’s apparently a whole crew of repeat guests here, and after staying a few nights, I get it. The staff remembers your preferences — like how you take your morning coffee or whether you need extra towels. It’s that kind of personal attention you don’t expect from a mid-range hotel. The housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive, and there’s this general efficiency that makes your stay feel effortless. Plus, the front desk folks actually know the neighborhood and can point you toward the good local spots instead of just handing you a tourist map.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Apause Inn isn’t trying to be something it’s not — and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re paying for a solid, well-located base in one of Taipei’s most livable neighborhoods, with service that feels genuinely caring rather than corporate. The value proposition is honest: clean, comfortable accommodations in a spot where you can actually experience the city like a local rather than a tourist trapped in a hotel bubble. For couples especially, having this kind of authentic Taipei location means your evening walks become part of the experience rather than just a way to get somewhere else.
To book hotel in Taipei for Lantern Festival nights, travelers claim riverside terraces glowing with drifting sky lanterns.

The location of the hotel was great it's near all the transportation you'd need. TRA, HSR and Bus Station.
It's just a few steps from the TRA station and you can also use the underground passage that directly leads to the train station.
The room is small and a tight fit with the bed and the bathroom, but the facilities are good.Great location for a good price, rooms a bit basic though – Tim from Australia (8/10)

Good value just for the location alone! – James from United States of America (8/10)
Room is clean but very small. Location is super convenient as there is Sushiro in the 2nd floor and McDonalds on the ground level, so you won't have to brave the oppressively humid summer heat, or the messy rainy weather if you do not want to!
Overally a nice stay, value for money. – Ke from Hong Kong (8/10)
Great location, very near to Taipei main station, 3 minutes walking distance from Z2 exit. Although the room is small but they look clean and bright. Hotel staff that helped us checked in is amiable.
